Hannah grew up in Shetland and was involved with organising community events from a young age. She moved to Edinburgh in 2006 to study classical music at Edinburgh Napier University, graduating with first class honours and a host of concert management experience gained through helping run university concerts, and volunteering at 3 consecutive Cheltenham Music Festivals and the NAYO Festival of British Youth Orchestras. During her time at university she also worked as an usher and deputy Duty Manager at The Queen’s Hall and as a relief childcare assistant with North Edinburgh Childcare, covering shifts at a nursery and at after-school clubs in 6 primary schools.
After almost 4 years working as Concerts Administrator at Music in Hospitals Scotland, Hannah took the leap into freelance arts administration and worked for organisations including Mr McFall’s Chamber, Ludus Baroque, The Cumnock Tryst and Makin Pianos. Non-musical jobs included front of house work with Edinburgh International Science Festival in the children’s hub at City Arts Centre, and volunteering at Edinburgh International Children’s Festival (formerly Imaginate) for several festivals. Hannah currently works part time as Content and Social Media Officer for Stitchmastery, utilising her life-long interest in knitting and yarn.
Hannah first worked for Love Music in 2010, acting as Banchory Concerts Manager on the Love Music Festival tour. She joined Love Music Community Choir in the first term as a volunteering member, and progressed to working as a paid team member, looking after many aspects of the day-to-day running of Love Music Community Choir and Junior Choir, and assisting on other Love Music projects when required. Hannah recently moved back to Shetland but continues to work remotely for Love Music as Choirs Administrator, looking after memberships, general admin and hosting online choir rehearsals.
When she’s not working, Hannah enjoys baking, knitting, crochet, Pilates, reading, and being near the sea. She has been learning the button box accordion since 2021.
