2017 Autumn term blogs

Towards the end of our first term, we asked choir members to write a little blog about their experiences at choir. We had some great responses, and some very positive comments!

Choir is really fun and you sing tonnes of awesome songs. I would really recommend it to people who love to sing.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Usher Hall junior choir here are some tips.

If you come to the Usher Hall you get a little songbook with a lot of songs. You go to get on the stage and you do a warm up then you start to learn or sing a song or two. You get put into groups, the pink, purple, green, red, blue, yellow and orange.

Monday afternoons are the best afternoons ever so if you can come then great. We hope you can come and have the best afternoons here ever. And a very, very, very fun conductor and helper – the funniest and funnest in the world.

What I love about Junior Choir is all the energy of everything and the buzz of excitement. I especially loved the day when Joy [Dunlop] came to teach us a really fun Gaelic song though it was a bit of a tongue twister. The chaperones and every staff member here has been so nice. I’ve really enjoyed it!

I would recommend choir because it is a lot of fun. I enjoyed it because you learn lots of music in it. My favourite part is singing and I really liked learning Gaelic. It’s also good because you meet new people.

It is fantastic because when I went to Love Music Junior Choir I could learn songs and I got lots of friends.

GO. THAT IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY. 😀

You get to learn famous songs and how to sing them. It is always great fun. Our helpers are really organised and tell us where to go.

I enjoyed:

~ learning a Gaelic song

~ doing the Star Wars warm up

~ singing Ed Sheeran and Bill Withers

~ and just being in a group and making new friends

Choir is a great place to go after school. It’s another exciting thing in your week. I love how every week we do something different – every different thing is amazing. I’m sure that you would love it. Something is a lot different about this choir that all the others that I’ve ever been to. This choir learns real songs and even Scottish Gaelic. We learn Ed Sheeran and Bill Withers and tongue twisters. I absolutely love choir.

In choir you do lots of fun warming up to get your vocals working properly. There’s a pianist Dave, the composer Stephen, and Darla who usually does the warm up with the us (she’s probably my favourite).

Everyone is in different groups but I’m in the purple group. It’s really fun and is a place where you don’t need to worry about school or homework. It’s a place where you can do the thing that you love – SING!!!

Your other friends can join and you can have the time of your life!!

I love this choir!!!

You learn songs. I enjoy going to choir on a Monday.

Choir is good for making friends and improving your singing. It also allows you to take part in concert etc. It is also just… nice to be in and support.

Awesome, you get lots of tips when singing. You will make new friends while singing and having fun.

The choir is really fun and if you could I would recommend joining. It’s a Monday straight after school.

The Love Music Junior Choir is on a Monday after school and I find it really motivating and fun. The director, Stephen, is really positive and friendly with us and helps us and supports us if we are struggling. You don’t need to audition to enter, just turn up with a water bottle and your voices!

On a Monday evening after school we go to the Usher Hall and we get sorted into our groups (red, yellow, green, blue). Then one by one we go to the stage with our songbooks and practice our songs that we will perform in front of a 2,000 seated hall. The songs we are doing are Ed Sheeran What do I know and a Gaelic song mixed with Star Wars and Summer Sun. Yeah it is an hour long and when it’s finished you go home. (P.S. it is really fun and enjoyable!!!!)

I think that choir is a very fun experience. It is really cool to be on stage in front of everyone.

All I can think of is one (or two) words to describe the choir and that is “Great”, and also Amazing! 🙂

Hi, my name is Jamie, and I am going to tell you how I think about the Junior Choir. When I come into the Usher Hall I am always impressed by how organised they are. They are always prepared when we come in. When we start to get settled into our seats in the choir, we always start with fun warm ups. The teachers are funny, hard working and always positive. The other thing that I like about the choir is that when we have finished a song the teachers like to put the one that we learnt into another song that we learnt. When we sing a song the teacher likes to rehearse 1 sentence for a couple of times so it’s stuck in our head and once it’s in our heads we move on to the next sentence. I really like the Junior Choir. It’s always amazing and fun and energetic.

I would say that choir is a good opportunity to go to Usher Hall and sing songs that annoy our teacher

The junior choir is really fun and I would recommend it. I enjoy going to it every Monday.

Choir is a singing group with fun, amazing singers. Everyone puts 100% in everything they do there. At Junior Choir you will learn some new skills, learn new songs, make some new friends AND MORE. Teachers at choir ALWAYS make you smile! They teach you different songs in stages so you can learn them off by heart! My Monday afternoons are GREAT!

Choir isn’t just a place to sing, it’s a place to make new friends and have fun.

Everyone is so friendly and they are always looking for ways to interact with the children.

You can tell they put a lot of work into the practices and are great at teaching new songs.

Very funny and good fun and educational and excellent. My favourite song is Sing Song Kitty!!!!

The first day at Junior Choir was amazing! I got so into it that I kept on singing the songs that I learnt wherever I go. Every single week I say to myself “I can’t wait to go to singing practice”. The one main thing I LOVE about Junior Choir is how I learn the songs so quickly. The singing teacher is really good in the way that he makes the songs go in our heads. The chaperones are amazing and really nice. I hope more people come to Junior Choir.

So I am going to tell you what it’s like in a choir. It is so fun, but when there is going to be a concert you have to concentrate. So if you want to be part of the Junior Choir just come in.

I . LOVE . CHOIR… it’s so amazing + I l-o-v-e choir! It’s basically a place to sing and laugh and HAVE FUN!

I would say a choir is a lot of people on stage who sing songs. People join a choir because they like to sing and learn new songs. I love to be part of a choir because I feel happy and proud.

Choir is fun, the song choices are good and the adults are nice to us. It is a warm and welcoming place to be.
